And considering the quality we have in the middle of the park I'm guessing he needs a bit more than luck to hold a place down and be captain

You're right Norf. I mean no manager would play a player just cos he's the captain would they? I mean even if there are better players in the team?

*thinks back to Nolan*

"On form do you think he deserves his place in the team Macca? "

Best midfielder on the park and up against England great white hope in the last game and this idiot is questioning IF he deserves his place.

What a spastic

I don't think he should start tomorrow because he's from custom house I think he should start because he was our best midfielder in our last game against Everton
And considering the quality we have in the middle of the park I'm guessing he needs a bit more than luck to hold a place down and be captain

I don't believe the captain matters as much as some people no.

I'll happily rephrase though, just to clarify things.

He's picked to play in the first team of one of the biggest clubs in the country, in one of the best and toughest leagues in world football.

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
I don't think he has and him being given captaincy does not prove that really does it?

After all Macca wasn't it you that said being captain means fuck all in football?

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
He's not got any better from youth FOOTBALL?

He's captain of one of the biggest clubs in the country in one of the best leagues in world football.

Stop this son. Please.

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
Agree. I remember seeing him in a youth game and he stood out. He was an excellent youth player, his record proves that.

But we need to be honest and say he has not got any better, he has had luck on his side during his career with us which of course you need in any walk of life and as I said before good luck to him.......hes a decent lad and one of us.

If he plays well most of the season I have no problems with him playing and wearing the captains armband but if he's got it because he is currently our longest serving and still playing week in week out despite being poor most games then I do not see how this is any different to the Nolan debacle under Allardyce? And should be highlighted as Nolans performances were too.

Noble has been amongst a good side this season but it still hasn't improved his game.....in fact he looks worse mainly due to him having better quality players around him which is ironic considering we kept getting told his poor performances were due to him having poor quality players around him.

Over the years he has been the best of a bad bunch now he is the worst of a good bunch.

Sad but true.

Noble is twice the player if he played for Man Utd would have 50 caps by now.

But he doesn't play for Man United because he isn't good enough for them. But apart from that you're spot on mate

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
To be fair, the ones from that time who went on to have long careers in the football league weren't the most talented, by any stretch.

Noble was always going to make it though, there was talk about him from very early and he was head and shoulders above anything his age group. I know you don't rate him, but to be pushing on for 300 games, mainly in the top league, is a fantastic career, and it's not been down to luck.

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
BTW I have never said I would have made it as a professional footballer. There were far better players than me that didn't make it there were some worst that did. That's the way it goes.

I just said I was highly rated by those that played alongside/against me and by the managers I played under.

They thought I would be a pro footballer.

Re: The SKIPPER v Dele ALLI
Rodders, there was a thread on here a while back, and a few of us were discussing footballers from a certain area where you're from, of a certain age, that you played with/against.

Now, the names mentioned were the only players who had the remotest chance of making it. You weren't any of them.

No need to get het up about it, I weren't good enough to make it either.
